Cashmere & Sneakers: The Art of Both

There comes a point in life where you realize — you don’t have to choose.
You don’t have to pick between classy and comfortable, elegance and ease, polish and playfulness.
You get to live in the glorious both.

I love a beautiful cashmere sweater — the kind that feels like a soft sigh, a warm hug, a quiet exhale.
But I also love my sneakers — the ones that say, We’re moving, we’re exploring, we’re not trying too hard, we’re just here to enjoy this.

Some seasons of life ask us to hustle, impress, keep up.
But this one?
This season is about belonging — to ourselves, to our joy, to what feels good in our bones.

Cashmere is classy confidence.
Sneakers are freedom.
Together, they are comfort with a wink of style — the kind of presence that puts other people at ease the moment they walk in the room.

Because here’s the gift of being right here, right now:

We’re no longer dressing for approval.
We’re curating our lives for connection.

We’re no longer proving ourselves.
We’re showing up as ourselves.

We’ve lived enough life to know how to make a room feel warm.
We’ve learned how to listen, how to laugh at the right moments (and sometimes the wrong ones), and how to sit comfortably in our own story.

We know what matters:
• People over performance
• Joy over impressing
• Comfort over complexity
• Real over perfect

And the thing is — people feel it.
They walk into our presence and breathe a little easier.
Because when you feel at home in yourself, you give everyone else permission to do the same.

Cashmere is the soft finishing touch.
Sneakers say, “Come as you are. We’re good here.”

This season is cozy, confident, creative.
It’s layered with grace and color and second chances and deep laughter.

And we’re going to enjoy every bit of it. Grab a cup of happiness and stay for a while.

Both Sides of The Fence

This post is a reflection on celebrating joy—like birthdays at the beach with my kids—while also holding space for hard things like conflict with friends and caring for an aging parent. It’s about learning to live in the tension of both sweetness and struggle, and releasing what isn’t mine to carry.
