Create Your Own Christmas Stocking Patterns

I’m making my first Christmas stocking for a very special little girl. (More on that later.)

I don’t have time to needlepoint or cross stitch her a stocking and if the truth be told, I don’t enjoy either of those. So…. I started looking at vintage, old school stocking kits from felt. My grandmother made me a felt stocking with sequins and beads and all the sparkly things. It was one of my favorite times of the year when I got to unpack my stocking from the Christmas storage items each year. It was like reuniting with an old friend.

As I started looking at all the available kit options, nothing felt like it was the perfect fit so I decided to create my own pattern for this special little girl. I’ve never made a felt stocking but somehow think I’ll really enjoy the process.

So….where to start. How do you make your own template and stocking patterns.

I started with ChatGPT. This is the pattern that I decided on after many different prompts with chatgpt. I’ve started working on the stocking and I’ll be sure to show you when it’s done. My friend Susan helped me sketch out the pattern and then I purchased felt and beads and sequins. It’s coming along nicely.
